I know, right? Hardly groundbreaking stuff but everywhere we turn, there is another yellow item making its debut. I personally can’t get enough of it, and having already bought a bag AND a jacket, I’m not about to stop there. But why all of a sudden is yellow the trend we all want more of?
Perhaps it’s because as a Vitamin D deprived nation, we are all desperately craving the sun. Having spent months enduring the cold and grey winter weather, there is nothing we would rather see right now than that beautiful burst of yellow in our skies. Sadly though, that isn’t always the case. After the AMAZINGLY hot weekend we had at the beginning of April, we have been brought back to reality with a bang. In true British style, the weather has gone cold on us again. But, almost as if in homage, the colour yellow has graced our high streets and wardrobes alike to give us that much-coveted burst to brighten and lift even the greyest of days. Now that is something I want a piece of.
I chose to go for more sophisticated mustard tones, as opposed to anything too bright and garish. The bag, a slightly darker mustard suede with Gucci Dionysus vibes, is so on trend right now. The mini size and over the shoulder strap make it the ultimate accessory for those warmer summer days when you don’t need to cram gloves, a box of cold and flu AND your umbrella in your bag. The jacket was an immediate YES for me. The exposed hems and the collarless cut give the biker jacket an interesting update with a feminine twist, perfect for Spring.
HOW TO WEAR
This trend is in it’s element when worked into the outfit in bold blocks of colour. For me, the jacket against the back drop of my navy blue jumpsuit makes a beautifully bright statement. Adding a further glimpse of yellow by wearing the bag alongside the jacket really reinforces the look. However, for those of you who only want a small ray of sunshine in your outfit, try working yellow accessories into the outfit alone.
